Grants & Scholarships

The Junior League of Greater Elmira-Corning is continually fundraising so that it can provide funds to the community by way of its Grants program.

Member-Sponsored Grants

Each year, the Junior League of Greater Elmira-Corning awards Member-Sponsored Grants to support mission-aligned community projects and local organizations. These grants are designed to offer flexible support — helping to meet urgent needs, expand capacity, or launch new initiatives that serve our community.

Our Junior League members are community-minded and often are affiliated or passionate about other organizations and projects.  A member can present a project or organization for possible funding.  The JLGEC member will ask the organization or group to visit this page and complete the Member-Sponsored Grant application.  MSGs are issued in amounts not to exceed $1,000.00 per project, and an organization can not receive funds for more than two consecutive league years.

Grants awarded for the 2025–2026 league year:

• $400 — Career Development Council
Funding supports the “Life, Powered by You!” event for middle-school–aged girls. This empowering program aims to build confidence, leadership skills, and future opportunity awareness among young women in our community.

• $1,000 — Neighborhood Transformation Center (NTC) of Elmira
This grant is part of a larger effort to purchase a new commercial stove for NTC’s community dinner program, enabling the preparation and serving of hundreds of meals monthly to families in need.

• $500 — Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the Southern Tier
These funds support CASA’s emergency resource pool, providing vital items such as clothing, beds, and services for children in foster care during times of crisis.

• $350 — Economic Opportunity Programs (EOP) of Elmira
This donation helps supply menstrual products to individuals participating in EOP’s community programs — ensuring basic personal care needs are met.

• $750 — Family Services Society (Corning, NY)
The grant supports the Holiday Gift Program, helping to provide gifts and holiday support to families served by Family Services Society, bringing hope and joy during the season.

Why These Grants Matter

At JLGEC, we believe in leveraging the power of volunteer leadership and strategic support to uplift our community. Our Member-Sponsored Grants allow member volunteers to propose projects for funding — ensuring our resources are directed toward the most pressing needs, and that we maintain a hands-on, responsive approach to community care.

These grants represent more than money: they enable real people to access real support — from a warm meal to a holiday gift, from personal care items to opportunities for youth development.

Scholarships

Outstanding High School Senior Volunteer Scholarship

JLGEC seeks to assist a young woman in our community who personifies our organization’s mission. This scholarship seeks to reward a young woman who is college-bound and is currently donating, or has donated her time to volunteering. This can be in either her school or the community during her senior year. The $2,500 scholarship will be issued to the higher education organization of her choice.
